Before and After School.

The Thrifty Teacher provides quality weekday programming for elementary students in a safe, fun, and engaging environment.

All staff are committed to student development, both academically and emotionally, and work to foster a love of art.

Additionally, all staff are CPR/first aid certified and will follow the masking policy of Howard County Public Schools.

Mindful Mornings: Have your child start their morning with mindfulness and an engaging morning meeting to set their day off to a bright start! Mindful mornings start at 7:00 am and students will be walked or shuttled to school in time for school breakfast. 

 

Arts Afternoons: Your child can enrich themselves in the arts during our arts afternoons! 

Have your child decompress after their long day at school with a snack and conversations with classmates, then have support with their homework by our staff.

Once homework is finished, students are able to use their imagination and creativity in our Makerspace. From 5:30-6:30 your child will engage themselves in a different enrichment every day, such as painting, music, yoga and more!

Pricing:
Pricing is for 4 or 5 days a week. 

Mindful Mornings: $60 per student per week 
Arts Afternoon: $160 per student per week
Both Mindful Mornings and Arts Afternoons Discount Bundle: $200 per student per week
School Holiday Care: $40 added per student per day

Mindful Mornings:
7:00 am: Doors Open
7:00-8:00 am: Engagement Activities

  • Morning activities to wake up the brain that could include puzzles, reading, coloring, or mediation.

8:00-8:30 am: Morning Meeting

  • Community building activities that include sharing about ourselves and interactive games.

8:30-8:45 am: Walk or Shuttle to school

  • Students will be walked by staff to school. 

8:45 am: Arrive at school for breakfast

Arts Afternoon:

3:30-3:45 pm: Pickup at School

  • Students will be picked up by staff

3:45-4:00 pm: Walk or shuttle to The Thrifty Teacher 

4:00-4:30 pm: Afternoon Snack

  • Yummy, nut-free healthy snacks are provided.

4:30-5:30 pm: Academic Power Hour​

  • Homework is completed with staff support, if needed

5:30-7:00 pm: Enrichment Activities​

  • Fun entertainment to round out the day with activities that may include painting, crafting, yoga, games, and/or drop in field trips. 

7:00 pm: Doors Close
